Work Out, where you are you?

This post is brought to you by ProForm.com
Is anybody else out there wondering why Work Out has yet to air it's 3rd season on Bravo? I'd like to know. I know that Jackie and the crew signed on for season 3, but there's been nothing on Bravo or online about the season premiere. It should be an interesting season.

For one, I know that Paiva, the clothing company Jackie went with to run her Sky Lab line, has begun to close it's doors. Their website is now offline and they are slowly closing their shops. I wonder what kind of effect that'll have on Jackie and her clothing line. She's resilient, so I know she'll probably figure something out.

Of course, everyone is anxious to see what has developed, if anything, between Jackie and her babe convert, Rebecca. Everyone's mum about it.

Work Out revs up for Season 3

This post is brought to you by ProForm.com
Jackie and the gang will be gracing our televisions for Season 3 of Work Out. I can only guess that this new season will cover Jackie's continued search for Ms. Right, push of her brand with Paiva, and growth of her gym.

I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to Season 3.

Not that we've had a post like that here, but I've noticed the popular comparison of Jackie Warner with Pink. I found an amusing post over at AfterEllen.com in which badmachine brings up the point that Jackie looks more like the love child of Pink and Scarlett Johansson. Very amusing.

There were a handful of other humorous comparisons listed. Check it out for yourself. I especially liked the Olsen twin match.

Q and A with Jackie Warner

This post is brought to you by ProForm.com
The Boston Herald published a brief 5-question interview with Jackie Warner today, conducted by Lauren Beckam Falcone, Pop Culture Reporter.

Q: Is it easier to lose weight in the summer?
A: "People tend to lose weight in the summer because their body temperature is more heated, they’re more active, they change their behavior. People walk more, they’re more athletic."

Q: But do people tend to eat more things like margaritas and hot dogs because they think they’re exercising more?
A: "That’s a caveat, but I easily shed three to five pounds once the rainy season is over in L.A. -- not because I change my workout, I just naturally stop eating."

Q: What about working out in the heat? Bad idea?
A: "I think it’s great to work outdoors; I prefer it to a gym. It warms up your body temperature and muscles. I know it’s bad for your skin, but I love working out in the sun, too. Just slather on the sunscreen and make sure you drink a lot of water."

Q: Any advice for folks going on vacation? How do you stick to a fitness plan?
A: "If you’re going on summer vacation, workout by hiking or walking. I mean, snorkeling is an intense workout. I used to only stay at hotels with gyms, but what a waste! I never used them. Sleep, swim, snorkel, have fun and keep it interesting."

Q: What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from being on reality TV?
A: "That all of this is on my shoulders, and while the Bravo executives may like me and take me out to dinner and value what I am doing, they don’t care if I win or lose. Sky Lab and Sky Sport and my fashion line, all of it is on me, and I have to make it work. You only have yourself to rely on, that’s what I learned."

No more Work Out...for a little while that is

This post is brought to you by HyperStrike.

Now that the second season of Work Out is over, what's left to do on Tuesday nights? I won't be able to hear Jesse whine about how much camera time Rebecca's getting for hooking up with the boss. Or, Erika talk about how much pressure there is in trying to look like Angelina Jolie. Or, watch Jackie juggle two women, a gym, two 'rat' dogs, and a new clothing line. Whatever will I do on my Tuesday nights?

Actually, now that the season is over, I'll probably get caught up on some sleep. I know, I know. Work Out is actually on at my bed time. So it cuts into my schedule. But, I'm willing to make some exceptions. I should be rested up by the time next season rolls around though.

So, what will you guys be doing on your Tuesday nights now that Jackie won't be gracing our television screens?

Bravo's "Work Out Reunion: Watch What Happens Special," premieres Tuesday, May 15th at 10pm EST. The reunion episode will be hosted by Bravo's Senior Vice President of Programming Production, Andy Cohen, who also hosts www.bravoTV.com's weekly broadband series "Watch What Happens." Jackie and her trainers dish out on the second season that was filled with roller coaster emotions, romance and Jackie's new business ventures.

Jackie shares that trainers share similar psychological views about their bodies, which enables them to connect to clients. A Skylab client pops in to reveal her new curves and talk about how far she's come thanks to Jackie, the trainers and the Skylab experiment.

Jackie talks about her personal life. Who she decided to stay with and who's out for good. And, the team talks about Doug.

Season 2 of Work Out was not lacking in drama -- From Jackie's final break up with Mimi, to her relationships with both Tiffany and Rebecca, to rebuilding her relationship with her mom, to mourning her father as well as Doug.

I came across these video clips of Jackie recalling things that happened during the filming of the show and some of the ways she has grown.

Sky Lab by Jackie Warner

I checked my email this morning and received this announcement from Paiva featuring Jackie's new clothing line, Sky Lab. The subject read: Be the First to Wear Sky Lab by Jackie Warner and included the picture you see here.

For those of you that watched the season finale, the show featured some of the items Jackie designed. The only one I didn't like, on the show, was the outfit worn by Zen. It didn't look flattering on her at all, which left me wondering why she ended up with that when she could definitely pull off anything else. Oh well.

So, be sure to check out Sky Lab by Jackie Warner over at Paiva.com. I think I might buy a couple of things before too long.

Working life out

This post is brought to you by HyperStrike.

If you haven't had a chance to check out Jackie's blog on Bravo, I encourage you to do it. Her and the trainers get to write up brief commentary on each episode. Some are better than others as, and some are more consistent about doing it. Jackie has been pretty consistent, but happened to miss making her entry before the season finale aired Tuesday night.

This week's entry was brief but gave good insight into her thoughts about the last episode of season 2. Ironically, this post will be short too. But, I'd like to end it with Jackie's words:

When I look back at the year I have mixed feelings -- it was bittersweet ... I went through a break-up, started new relationships, healed the relationship with mom, mourned dad, a beloved trainer.

This show is not about working out ... it’s about working life out.

Touching Work Out finale

This post is brought to you by HyperStrike.
Get Fit Fast! Start 14 Day Free Trial Today!

The season finale was not only touching but inspiring in more ways than one. I actually found myself with tears a couple of times, either from happiness or sadness.

The trainers were finally able to bring some closure to Doug's passing. They shared memories of what he did for them, but mostly about what a loving and caring man he was. Brian shared the principles by which Doug lived by:

Just for today, do not worry.
Just for today, do not anger.
Honor your parents, teachers, and elders.
Earn your living honesty.
Show gratitude to all living things.
--from the principles of Reiki

I was inspired by the positive changes the Skylab clients made. With the exception of Kiki of course. I couldn't believe what she was doing. She made excuses for not taking advantage of a tremendous opportunity. I know there are lots of people, me included, who would jump at the opportunity Jackie offered. But no, Kiki was too busy, had more important things to do. Let me tell you, ten years from now, she'll be kicking herself for not trying, when her physical health will keep her from doing what she 'thinks' is important now. Okay, off of my soapbox now.

Let's focus on the other Skylab clients. You know, the ones that tried and actually made huge strides in achieving their goals. Every one of them inspired me. I've always been athletic and involved in sports or activity. But these folks, who didn't come from that background, some had health issues as well, came in there, day in and day out, and gave it all they had. You could see the change, not only in their physical bodies, but in their demeanor, their attitude and their self esteem. Jackie and the trainers gave those people hope. And that is the most inspiring thing of all. Great job guys, you are fabulous!

The rest..

We saw a bit of Rebecca's jealous streak, but it wasn't really all that bad. Believe me, I've seen much worse. But, the whole Jackie and Rebecca thing still doesn't sit well with me. Sure, Rebecca's hot, but she's also Jackie's employee. I think any discomfort or anger the trainers have is justified. How would you feel if you're boss started dating one of your co-workers? And, regardless of what Jackie says, she is treating Rebecca differently than the other trainers. The fact that Jackie had to go out of her way to have Brian watch the gym while she visited her mom says something.

Brian training Cheo, that was touching. When Brian mentioned the humming bird thing, that threw me back a bit. Cheo just broke down at that moment. He was trying to be strong, but at that moment, he couldn't help but cry. Doug was a special person, and both of them realized they'd never be the same. The good in all of that is that Cheo and Brian have developed a special bond.

You know, I haven't liked Jesse much this season. He just came off as a selfish and immature little boy who is full of himself. I still think he is, but I have to admit that I admired him for making the attempt to rearrange his priorities. Especially when he traveled to hear his friend sing the national anthem at the NBA All-Star game in Las Vegas. Then, I saw a preview of the reunion episode and I was reminded why I don't like him.

Speaking of reunion, is it just me, or is Bravo milking the show? Isn't a reunion for folks who haven't seen each other in a while? These guys are all trainers at the same gym, they see each other every day. I hate the fact that I will probably watch the reunion episode. I know, I can't help it. I love the 97% drama. Don't you?

Jackie gathers the troops for a special bike ride

In tonight's Work Out, Jackie and the Sky Sport trainers organize a bike ride at the beach to honor Doug. Says Jackie, "Doug's passion was bike riding. I'm really glad that we're doing this ride, really to rejoice his life which was so positive." To cap off the ride, the trainers gather around the fire and share their memories of the man they all looked up and admired.

Also, Jackie gathers up the Skylab clients to reveal the results of their hard work and dedication. Many of the clients made huge strides toward healthy change, but one, will get an ear full from Jackie for not taking the program seriously.

And, Rebecca's jealousy finally rears it's ugly head. "She has little rat teeth and she's got totally big gums, you never see her smile – and she shouldn't ever" says Rebecca.

Finally, Jackie throws a party at the gym to celebrate the hard work and dedication her clients and trainers have put into Sky Sport and their health.

The season finale of Work Out airs tonight at 10pm EST.

The silence is broken about Doug's condition

Brian Peeler talks to AfterElton about Doug and the events leading up to his death. A lot of the information most Work Out viewers were left in the dark about, until now.

Brian lays out the chronology of what happened to Doug before he passed. First off, the show never mentioned anything about Doug being sick towards the end of the first season. He was fighting lymphoma and was undergoing chemo. In episode 204, Doug suffered from salmonella poisoning which lead to his kidney failure. From what I saw on the show, I just thought he became so dehydrated that his kidneys simply shut down. Of course, I don't really know if that could happen, but, I didn't argue.

The infection mentioned in the last episode, was actually a staph infection in his neck he received from the numerous dialysis treatments, ultimately killing his liver and pancreas. He was resuscitated after his heart stopped, but doctors were told not to resuscitate him if it happened again.

He died on a Sunday, surrounded by his closest friends. They watched his heartbeat slow down and eventually stop.

"Now that he’s dead, I think people should know what happened. Instead of coming up with bogus ideas and saying bogus stuff about him, I wanted his name to be taken right. I don’t want his name to be trashed," said Brian.

An aside...

I've read a bit about how Bravo 'teased' viewers all week long about this week's show dealing with Doug's passing. Yet, only the last five minutes were dedicated to what was marketed so heavily. I have to say, I'm in agreement with how folks are feeling about it. Not that I didn't care about Jackie mending her relationship with her mom, because I think it's great, but I was expecting to see more about Doug's situation.

The fact is that Doug is gone. And Bravo, delivered record ratings. Hmm. Not sure how I feel about Bravo now.

Jackie on iFitandHealthy.com

iFitandHealthy.com reveals Star reporter Meaghan Murphy's fat blasting routine set up by Jackie and Erika at Sky Sport. The dedicated Murphy exercised five to six times a week for two months and stuck to the diet plan given to her by Jackie and Erika. "I lost several inches around my waist, dropped two dress sizes and went from wearing size 32 jeans to comfortably fitting into a 29."

Thanks to iFitandHealthy.com, here's the workout program Murphy implemented to get such fabulous results:

Mondays and Fridays - Three to four sets of 15 to 20 reps of leg presses, shoulder presses, squats, lateral and front arm raises and lunges.

Tuesdays and Thursdays - Three to four sets of 15 to 20 reps of chest presses, rows and bicep curls.

Wednesdays and Saturdays - An hour of cardio work, alternating between the treadmill, Stair-Master and bike.

Sundays - Much needed days of rest.

Murphy cut out oils, greasy meat, fried foods, and carbs in her diet.

Farewell Doug

It was odd at first, hearing Doug on the phone with Brian, "I'll be out in 2 or 3 days." To see Brian believe it.

Not long after, Work Out viewers had a chance see him take the news. Doug was not okay. And to see a grown man break down like that, is difficult. The group was shocked.

I understand now why Bravo and Jackie kept this so quiet. They were merely being true to Doug's wishes. Jackie said it best, "None of us knew how sick he was. And he did not want any of us there. He wanted us to remember him as the vibrant, happy man that he was."

The rest..

Jackie's trip home did more for her than she realized. She was able to talk with her mom. I think the biggest break through was the fact that Jackie allowed her mom to be her mom. To comfort, console, and support her as mother's only know how. Jackie's right, until she mends that relationship, it'll be difficult to have a successful and meaningful relationship with another woman. It's true for all of us.

C'mon Jackie...let us have it! Part 2

If you read Part 1 of C'mon Jackie...let us have it!, you know that I've been trying to find Jackie's recipe for her protein shake. After some digging, I finally found it over at Diamond Cut and here it is in all it's glory:

2 cups of organic mixed berries
1 scoop of mega green powder
1 serving of whey protein powder
1 tbsp of flaxseed oil
1 tbsp of liquid ameoacids
1 cup of ice

Mix all of the ingredients in a blender and drink.

Can't wait to try it!

Rumors: The May 1st episode of Work Out Season 2 will bring bad news

Fans of the show are aware that Doug Blasdell, one of the most endearing trainers on Work Out, passed away in January. It's been a difficult task trying to find information on what happened, how he passed, and why the show and Bravo are mum on the subject.

To be honest, I admire and respect the fact that Jackie and Bravo have decided not to capitalize on such a tragic situation. Most folks, when given time in the limelight, would fork over the details for ratings. But not Jackie. Not Bravo. I for one admire that. Kudos.

What's not surprising, however, is the affect the silence has had to loyal viewers. It's not confirmed of course, but I believe the decision by Jackie to not exploit Doug's untimely passing, has actually increased the show's viewership. I know I've been glued to my tv each Tuesday night in hopes of finding out what actually happened to dear Doug, all the while knowing the end. An eerie feeling I'm sure you all are familiar with.

Well, tomorrow night's episode will bring all this to light. The Sky Lab team will get some bad news. And the public will finally here the words we've been waiting for. "He's gone." Why is it that, knowing what has happened, we are still anxious and enthralled by this? I'm sure it's different for some. For me, after getting to know the Sky Lab team, I want to see how they dealt with it. How they reacted. I know. It's selfish isn't it. But it's true. Funny how I didn't even know Doug, but I want to have the opportunity to say goodbye.

C'mon Jackie..let us have it!

Is anybody else out there curious about what Jackie puts in her signature health shake? I am. I've looked all over the place and can't find the recipe. I've also heard rumors that she'll be selling it, or something like that, because of the demand.

Now that I have my Bowflex, I've set up my workout routine and am working on eating plan. I'll be starting this Monday and would like to include Jackie's shake in the mix. So, if anybody knows where I can find the recipe for Jackie Warner's health shake, click on the little "Comments" link below, and be nice enough to share. Pretty please.

Thanks for the kick in the arse Erika!

On Tuesday's episode, Erika honed in on Meaghan Murphy, Star magazine reporter, ""Your body is the only thing you have and if you don't take it seriously, how on earth are you going to do anything else?" And, you know what? It hit a nerve.

I put in an order for the beauty of a home gym, the Bowflex Xtreme 2. It's not the newest model, but it is an excellent piece of machinery and won't break my budget. I can't wait to use it and start taking advantage of the fact that I have a healthy body. I've been blessed with good health and I've been taking it for granted. So, thanks Erika. You gave me that last little nudge I needed to get my *ss in gear.

In appreciation for the show, I'm going to use this blog not only as a place to write my thoughts about the show, but as a place to track and journal my goals to a better, healthy me. Wish me luck!

Blast those quads the Zen way

Looks can be deceiving. When you first see Zen Gray and hear her speak, you think, 'what a nice gal.' Well, think again.

Check out this training clip of Zen taking Gregg through a quad-blasting routine. She's a nice girl alright, but she'll kick your *ss if she has to.

Erika never looked so good

This was definitely the episode that brought the best of Erika to the forefront. Not that I've never noticed her before, but this time we got to know her a little better. I always thought she was a beautiful woman, and is. But, now I see her as a professional and as someone who I would love to have kick my *ss in the gym.

Check out Erika's thoughts about this episode.

Okay, now I'm sure everyone's trying to figure out why Jackie didn't go ballistic on Steve. But, Jackie, being the professional she is, did the right thing. You'll find in her blog that she did 'sever' the relationship off camera. How's that for class?

Motivational episode--go Jackie!

Jackie served up a big dish of inspiration and motivation to the everyday Jane. To say that her leadership qualities are evident in this episode is an understatement. Jackie, you truly are a person who cares about what you do and the people you do it for. You are fabulous girl!

Jesse on the other hand, needs to get a grip. Dude, get over yourself and your selfish, needy crap. Jackie has enough pressure as it is, and to have to babysit a grown man is not something she needs. I think it's sad that he's the only gay man on the show now, and this is the way he has decided to act. Man, he is really getting annoying. Ugh.

On another note, where was Doug in this episode. I find it odd that in the midst of his apparent medical crisis, the team goes off to the mountains while one of their own is lying in the hospital. What's the deal?

Oh, and Rebecca is still hot! You go girl!

Torn between two lovers

We all know the scoop. Jackie is having some fun, with Tiffany and with Rebecca. And man, they are both hot!

If you had to pick between the two ladies, who would you rather see with Jackie? Tiffany or Rebecca?
